The National Reuse Conference was held in Nantes on November 27. It was an opportunity for Altkin, the European leader in alternative printing, committed to democratizing reuse, to speak and make valuable connections.
Nantes hosts the 1st National Reuse Conference
The National Reuse Conference is an event organized by RCube, an association that brings together people who want to transform the reuse sector through action and collaboration. Held for its first edition in Nantes, but with a national scope, this conference is aimed at professionals, experts, decision-makers, elected officials, and researchers, with the aim of accelerating the development of reuse and repair.
“A first edition that makes you want to take action!” says Véronique Riotton, Member of Parliament for Haute-Savoie (1st constituency) and co-rapporteur of the AGEC bill, enthusiastically. She adds: “From the very first discussions, I felt the collective energy: local authorities, businesses, associations, and parliamentarians united around a common goal—to make reuse a concrete reality in the field.”
Altkin, a spearhead of the circular economy, makes its voice heard
Committed to the circular economy with its brand of refurbished printing consumables, OWA (Our Way to Act), it was only natural that Altkin, through the voice of its marketing and communications director, Moïra Asses, spoke at the Assises nationales du Réemploi (National Reuse Conference) at the end of November.
Under the leadership of Benoît Varin, co-founder of Recommerce Group and President of RCube, and alongside representatives from civil society and public authorities, Moïra Asses shared her views on the regulatory and normative framework applicable to reuse (in France and Europe).
“In practice, the effects of the AGEC law are unsatisfactory. In fact, only 25% of buyers surveyed by the Economic Observatory of Public Procurement (OECP) say they are meeting the target set,” Moïra Asses began.
"The weakness in the effective implementation of the objectives of the AGEC law and its Article 58 lies in a total lack of oversight. This has led to the following observation, made by MPs Véronique Riotton and Stéphane Delautrette in an information report published in May 2024: 'Public purchasers have still not sufficiently embraced the AGEC law' and 'the objectives have not yet been achieved. Monitoring by the administration is ineffective due to a lack of monitoring indicators,” Moïra Asses also stated.
In the afternoon, it was Mary-Laure Brizay, Director of Operations and Strategic Programs at Altkin, who spoke about the AGEC law during a round table discussion on “How to achieve the 30% reuse rate required by the AGEC law.” Finally, throughout the day, the Altkin teams were able to exchange ideas with all the participants present.
*“What I take away from this day is the desire to build together. All of us, public and private actors, associations, and parliamentarians, discussed, shared our experiences, and moved forward together in the same direction. At Altkin, we are proud to contribute to these discussions and to represent the voice of the reuse industry,” *concludes Moïra Asses.
