ARMOR GROUP included in hydrogen specialist Atawey funds raising

June 27, 2025

As part of its ARMOR GROUP Open Industry programme, ARMOR GROUP is creating synergies with Atawey, the French leader in hydrogen refuelling stations.

Since 2023, ARMOR GROUP has developed the ARMOR GROUP Open Industry programme, which aims to develop a positive industrial ecosystem for the European economy and the environment by investing in and supporting high-impact technology start-ups. Its priority markets are the energy transition, water conservation and the recyclability of materials and waste.
In addition to acquiring equity stakes, ARMOR GROUP provides these start-ups with its industrial and international expertise in chemistry, processes and industrialisation. They include HoloSolis, a solar panel gigafactory project; Equium, a pioneer in acoustic heat pumps; Blackleaf, a graphene specialist; and Exocell, which is revolutionising water treatment for industry with its modular approach.

In spring 2025, ARMOR GROUP took part in the €22 million strategic financing round led by Starquest, Atawey's historic investor, alongside the French government via France 2030, an industrial consortium and the Fonds Régional Avenir Industrie Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. ARMOR GROUP has also been given an observer seat on the Board of Directors.

"This round of financing is a key step in Atawey's growth. It gives us the means to accelerate while retaining our DNA: customer proximity, technological expertise and commitment. We want to be the partner of choice for European regions and manufacturers committed to hydrogen mobility and the decarbonisation of its uses", says Jean-Michel Amaré, Chairman and co-founder of Atawey.

"With this new investment as part of our ARMOR GROUP Open Industry programme, our Group is embarking on a new direction aimed at decarbonising mobility in addition to the activities of ARMOR BATTERY FILMS. This confirms our desire to support the development of an industry with a positive environmental and economic impact. In addition to our financial participation and our observer status on the Board of Directors, we are making available to Atawey's teams our expertise as a century-old manufacturer to help them realise their ambitions for 2025 and beyond," says Hubert de Boisredon, Chairman and CEO of ARMOR GROUP.
