Responsibility

Provide more sustainable alternatives

February 22, 2023

For ARMOR GROUP, social responsibility is the result of collective thinking and constant evolution. As a pioneer in the development of eco-designed 3D materials, KIMYA, an ARMOR GROUP company, wishes to encourage users to give preference to recycled filaments in the interests of sustainability and resource conservation. This is why in 2023, KIMYA is publishing the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of its PETG 3D filaments, conducted in collaboration with the Greenly firm and based on the ADEME (Environmental and Energy Management Agency) methodology.

LCA is a multi-stage, multi-criteria analysis that measures the environmental impacts generated by a product or service throughout its life cycle: from raw material extraction to end-of-life, including manufacturing and usage stages. The LCA of Kimya PETG recycled 3D filament shows an emission of 4.08 kgCO2 compared to 6.27 kgCO2 for Kimya PETG standard filament. The conclusion: using Kimya recycled PETG 3D filament reduces CO2 emissions by 35% compared to its standard equivalent.

"Born from our DNA and a strong demand from our distributors, the Life Cycle Assessment conducted on our standard and recycled PETG filaments allows us to inform the user in a transparent way about the environmental impact of the materials they use, in order to encourage them to choose more environmentally friendly alternatives. Our LCA approach is part of our ongoing commitment to more sustainable production, as demonstrated by our "Remake" range of recycled filaments and our now 100% eco-designed packaging. The next step for KIMYA is to carry out a complete carbon assessment of our activity in order to precisely quantify our carbon footprint and to undertake targeted actions to reduce our CO2 emissions" explains Benoît Stoeux, Managing Director of KIMYA.

Through its actions, ARMOR GROUP wishes to activate sustainable growth levers and pursue its development with the same objective: that of being useful to society in order to succeed in the challenge of the transition.

"Aware of the responsibilities incumbent upon us, we at ARMOR GROUP are acting according to a clear strategic line that respects the environment. Our commitment to innovate in the service of social issues is supported by all the group's activities, driven by the same vision: investing for the future" concludes Annabelle Guillet, ARMOR GROUP's Director of Societal Innovation.
